Lufthansa AirPlus wins Process Solution Award 2019 with risk management and ICS based on MR.KNOW – BPM (formerly BPM inspire)

Partner: arvato Systems

The BPM-based system combines various data, control and business processes on a single platform.

Lufthansa AirPlus Servicekarten GmbH (AirPlus) now relies on state-of-the-art BPM technology with the introduction of the Internal Control System (ICS), and won the 2019 gfo Process Solution Award. The solution from IT system integrator arvato systems is based on MR.KNOW – BPM components from Inspire Technologies GmbH. In 2016, AirPlus introduced the "electronic Quality and Control System (eQCS)" with the assistance of arvato systems and Inspire Technologies, which provides end-to-end process-oriented support for the internal control and risk management system (ICS). In doing so, different business areas and processes are linked on a technological platform so that internal, external, legal and audit-driven requirements are fulfilled. The solution will also help to avoid redundant data storage in the future. The company is based in Neu-Isenburg near Frankfurt am Main, and is a provider of business travel management solutions. With the help of MR.KNOW – BPM (formerly BPM inspire), AirPlus can record, validate and evaluate all entrepreneurial risks in a user-friendly manner. Actions, controls and measures derived from this via processes ensure that there is a sustained reduction in the probability of risks occurring, and therefore help to minimise potential losses from operational business.

In order to check the general functionality of the system, the individual modules and the implementation procedure, the project managers first carried out a proof-of-concept in 2013. All standard modules which were planned for the system were integrated, a central control database was set up, the initial workflows and reports were technically implemented and smooth interaction of the overall system was tested. The system, which has multi-client capability, will also provide process-oriented support for future projects, software developments and implementations at AirPlus.

During the selection process, MR.KNOW – BPM was particularly impressive because of its capability of fully integrating processes, documents and IT systems. Other criteria were the integration of risk management, particularly the intuitive recording and evaluation of risks, and also ICS integration together with the recording and management of the controls. The "BIC Platform" also makes easy modelling of processes in the BPMN standard possible, and the appealing publication of process and system information. "But also the full text search of all stored information and data, the integrated report functionality, real-time control and graphical adaptation to the AirPlus specifications of were impressive", reports Dr. Michael Otte, managing partner of Inspire Technologies GmbH. The system also provides comprehensive transparency with regard to important compliance requirements, the practicability of the processes as a process application, compliance in work processing and traceability, and documentation of the work steps. "This provides AirPlus with important support with regard to process modelling, visualization and decision-making," Otte continues.

Dr. Michael Otte sums up: "We are very pleased to be able to provide AirPlus with long term support together with our partner arvato systems. As an experienced and specialized component supplier, MR.KNOW – BPM gives partners the opportunity to design individual BPM functional modules for taking specific circumstances and needs into consideration – such as the requirements of AirPlus in this case."
